"It is with great regret that unfortunately due to the unreasonable demands made at short notice by Denbighshire County Council to British Angling Promotions regarding the British Open Beach Championship we have had no option but to cancel this years event.

We would like to sincerely apologise to all those who have purchased tickets and all the anglers who were looking forward to this potentially huge event. Please be aware that any entry tickets that have been purchased from British Angling Promotions will be refunded in full.

The attitude of the local authority to the event has been extremely uncooperative from the outset. The most recent and serious demand, received only a couple of weeks before the event, was for us to provide liability insurance for each individual angler and their equipment. This was additional to the more than adequate public liability cover that had already been purchased. The cost quoted to us for providing this extra cover was more than £3,000 making the event completely un-viable.

Please be aware that we will endeavour to organise this potentially spectacular festival of fishing in the near future, just not on the Denbighshire coastline in North Wales.
